Syllabus
We start the course with the most simple approach, importing your Rhino geometry as a reference. This is perfect for when the building is finished and you want to utilise Revit’s drawing and sheeting up capacity to export drawings with your own title blocks, revisions, date and so on.
The second lesson and second workflow demonstrated in this course, brings geometry over from Rhino as if it were made within Revit to begin with. This means that the building import’s with BIM information slots so that you can fully utilise the BIM environment of Autodesk Revit.
The third lesson covers a very powerful topic, the world of connectors. Connectors combine software via a cloud connection to seamlessly transfer data been applications. This lesson focuses on marketing leading connector app ‘Speckle’. Speckle ‘extracts and exchanges data in real time between the most popular AEC applications using our tailored connectors’. In this lesson we deploy a plug-in built by the creators of Rhino themselves. This effectively allows you to run Rhino & Grasshopper within Revit itself. Due to the functionality of Grasshopper, a synchronisation can be made between the geometry it creates and how it’s produced and understood in Revit. This plug-in creates a new tab in the Revit ribbon at the top of the software and the geometry you see within Revit comes through as ‘native’ meaning you can apply BIM properties to everything you bring in, powerful stuff! In the final lesson we demonstrate our preferred workflow, how to jump between Rhino and Revit to make changes and how we can deploy Revit’s production capability to produce architectural drawings fit for issue in the real world. This approach can also be used to create proper PDF drawings for presentations and other graphical means.
