Syllabus
Lesson 1 – Introduction (1:10:08). In this lesson, you will learn about what makes BIM and Revit different from other CAD software and modelling methods, and you will also familiarize yourself with the Revit interface, navigation, and the basic modelling principles.
Lesson 2 – Starting a New Project (33:19). In this lesson, you will learn how Views work in Revit, how to Link external drawings into the project, and then how to start setting up your new building model with Levels and Grids.
Lesson 3 – Modelling the Building’s Structure (1:09:52). In this lesson, you will learn to use structural framing elements in Revit, from an architectural designer’s perspective, and model the main structural framework for the Unité d’Habitation.
Lesson 4.1 – Modelling the Envelope – Part 1 (59:45). In this lesson, you will learn all about the main Architectural Building Elements that make up a building in Revit: Walls and Curtain Walls, Floors and Roofs.
Lesson 4.2 – Modelling the Envelope – Part 2 (55:20). The lesson completes with the modelling of the external envelope of the Unité d’Habitation.
Lesson 5.1 – Modelling the Interior – Part 1 (1:00:22). In this lesson, you will learn to model the interior of the Unité, and learn how to use Stairs, Railings, Openings, Doors and Windows, and Groups.
Lesson 5.2 – Modelling the Interior – Part 2 (1:00:25). The lesson completes with teaching you how to model the two typical apartment layouts that extend below and above the central public circulation corridor.
Lesson 6 – Furniture, Fixtures, and Finishes (34:50). In this lesson, you will learn how to populate the building model with furniture and fixture objects using the Component tool, best practices regarding sourcing these items, and also how to develop and detail finishes in your project. You will also gain a better understanding of how you can use Revit to render and visualise your work, and what software is compatible with it.
Lesson 7 – Topography (19:30). In this lesson, you will learn how to use the Toposolid tool to develop the ground surfaces surrounding the Unité d’Habitation.
Lesson 8 – Site and Context (27:44). In this lesson, you will learn how to create your site context model using Massing Volumes, how to define additional site information, and then create a Site Plan view to capture everything in your project.
Lesson 9 – Areas, Rooms, Tags, and Schedules (44:32). In this lesson, you will learn about Areas and Rooms and how to use them to quantify and catalogue the spaces in the building, to better understand them, illustrate them graphically, and then extract this information and assemble it in a Schedule. You will also learn about Tagging elements in Revit for clear identification on drawings.
Lesson 10 – Annotation and Detailing (35:10). In this lesson, you will learn how to add 2D detail and annotation elements to your Views, to enhance them visually or to identify crucial aspects of the project. Additionally, you will get a better understanding of the differences between Model and Drafting elements and views.
